Sorry I havent Updated, here is a quick update and I'm asking for Prayer!
Im sorry I havent updated in a few weeks, ive been making a list of all the things that I wanted to write about: Movie Rewviews, my last Chemotherapy and how Ive been feeling, losing my hair.

Ive just been really tired and out of it, its been hard to focus to write things, i havent been sleeping and Ive been really busy with doctors appointments and stuff.  I had a PET Scan yesterday and also a CAT scan will go over the results Thursday when I see my oncologists.   Ill try to also get around to getting all of my past updates posted soon as well, but there is a more pressing matter.

My 7 week old nephew Jacob was born with some heart problems and the doctors said that they would have to watch him closely, well his breathing hasnt been right and then Sunday I guess he had some blood in his nose. Monday my sister Melissa took him to the doctors and they sent her to the ER and his looks were discolored. They decided to admit him into  the hospital Monday night and said that they had to do an angioplasty yesterday to try to get his heart valves to open up.  Well during this procedure his heartstopped and then they were talking about open heart surgery or even a heart transplant.   There were complications during the surgery and his heart stopped beating.  They had him on life support but he passed away last night around 10pm.

Please pray for my sister Melissa and her husband Robbie and my entire family during this time. I  think that we are all still in shock but this is gonna be a long hard road.   Thank you all so much for your prayers and I will try to keep updates on here and my facebook as much  as I can.

Just A quick little Update. Saw the doctor, got info and will be writing new movie review, Nov 19th, 2009 3:15pm
OK, well I just wanted to do a quick update. Ive been out all day at doctors appointments and doing errands, just got home and am now getting ready to go back out again. So this will be short and sweet!

I saw my oncologist today and he looked over all of my lab work from the past few weeks and we talked about my symptoms and what Ive been feeling. He said that generally I am doing very well.  He is happy at how my body is reacting to the chemotherapy so far.  I told him my concerns and that I am preparing mentally for the worst and hoping for the best.

Surprisingly he told me not to worry, that I should just live my life, go about business normally and have as much fun as I can because there will be times in the near future where my blood counts will drop and my immune system will be very vulnerable and I cant go out into public much then.   I was shocked at how much less he was concerned about certain things and he told me that sometimes worrying about the cancer and chemo and side effects can bring them on faster.  So don't stress myself out cause that could be bad for my health.

I also talked to him about my neck and he examined me and said that it looks just to be damage and scar tissue and the tendon healing from the surgical implant of the portacath. So to take it easy and don't try to work it out myself to just let it heal on its own. Another fun little thing is that they gave me the H1N1 flu vaccine cause they say that when my immune system drops I wouldn't be able to fight it off so its just a precaution. So thats cool, i wasn't even thinking about it!

Sorry I haven't been updating as much, been really tired and crazily busy all of a sudden. My next Chemotherapy injection is next Weds (the day before Thanksgiving) But I promise to keep updating as things change and I learn anything new!

I will be posting four... yes FOUR new movie Reviews by tomorrow afternoon! So check back to see what I thought about: The Blind Side, Everybody's Fine, The Fourth Kind & ... The Twilight Saga: NEW MOON!

Thanks all for reading and I will be talking to you soon!!

                       GOD Bless,

P.S. Anytime you see the font a different color or underlined, its because its a link. I put up links to the movies I already saw and am gonna see tonight, then review tomorrow. You can click on the links in case you dont have a clue what movies I'm talking about!
Whats been going on in the past week or so! Posted Nov. 16th, 2009
OK, so sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Been really tired and trying to relax and rest but there is always something going on and it seems like I never get to rest. Plus there has been a few little problems with the home computer and I haven't felt like writing this all from my phone.

For the last week or so the main side effects that I have been feeling is: Tiredness, soreness, getting hot and feeling flustered very easily, insomnia, dehydration easily, and just a general feeling of weakness and aches.   I haven't had the most energy, but still no major sickness yet.  As you cans see from the pictures I have been having drawn. I have to go twice a week for them to test my count levels and see where im at and how my immune system is.  THIS is very important and determines where I can go and what I can do.

I have to go twice a week to do this and so after I go a few hours later I get a call from the nurse and she tells me the results.  So far my levels have been stable and there's been no significant drop.   I have talked to the nurse and she has told me that its usually between day ten and fourteen that that show signs of dropping which would be this week. So we shall see, also last week when I went to give I found out that I was extremely dehydrated and didn't even know it.   I was told that the chemo and medicines could make me constipated and apparently it just sucks up the water out of my body, so I am now trying to drink water non-stop to prevent that!

Last Friday my neck started to hurt and over this past weekend I have had some pretty extreme pain in my neck right above where they mad the incision in my neck. This was a bit alarming and the best way to describe it is this major straining and sharp pain.  When I feel my neck there is this thick hard line that I can feel and its only on the one side.  I talked to Ahnna today at Dr Senders office and explained it to her and we both kind of came up with the same conclusion: We think that there either was some damage to the nerve or muscle after the procedure or that after the surgery i was in a weird positive and didn't move for about a week and my neck was cricked a bit due to the pain and maybe the muscles and tendons healed that way.  Now that im sitting up straight the tendon is straining to move.  So I just gotta keep an eye on it and see if I can stretch it back out to have normal movement of the neck without pain.I have a check up with Dr Sender this coming Friday (November 20th) and if its still bothering me then we will address it and see what we can do.

I have also asked the doctor how am I doing and I haven't gotten majorly sick and unbearably nauseous yet and she told me that as the treatment continue and I get more injections of the chemotherapy that my body will be in more pain, that I will be more sick and that the effects will be stronger and worse.  So although I'm doing well now, not to get my hopes up that I will feel this good in the coming months.

So please pray that my neck will heal up and Ill be able to move my head without extreme pain and tension, that i will continue to stay strong and that I don't get majorly sick in the upcoming weeks.  Also my next injection is on November 25th (the day before thanksgiving) and that I don't get ill quickly and miss out on the yummy food.  Another thing that I need prayer on is that I can find a program that helps me out with prescription costs, cause im barely scraping by on paying my bills and I already have had a few extra bills in the past few months now all of these medicines that I have co-pays for are really me.  Ive been told that there are assistance programs, but I have to contact them and see if I qualify.

I will try to blog more often and let you all know whats going on.  Thanks everyone who has been praying and thinking of me..  It really gives me strength to know that so many people love me.   Well until next time...

                                                          GOD Bless,

Sorry I havent updated in awhile. Been really tired and not sleeping. Plus my computers been down. Will write an update tomm from the past week plus movie reviews
My First Round of Chemo, Posted- November 7th, 2009 1pm

OK, So it is day three after Chemotherapy and I wanted to do just a basic post about what happened and all that I felt and can remember.

Sorry its taken a few days to get this up, I have really been resting and just went out last night for the first time.

So I arrived at the hospital around 8:40am and I was put into my own room. I will not always have this, just depends on how busy they are, they do have main rooms but like to let you be by yourself your first time so you can have more personal interaction with the nurses and doctors and can ask questions and they keep a closer eye on you.  It was a nice little room with a bathroom that I shared with the patient next door.

So I was extremely nervous and my blood pressure showed it when they first took it.   But it went back to normal after I relaxed a bit.  Well my dad dropped me off and it was a lot of waiting at first. Then nurses and doctors came in to talk to me and started explaining what they were gonna do. The first thing that was done was that they sterilized my entire chest and the area around when the portacath is at. After that the lovely needle went into my chest.  Seeing as my incisions and the area around it isn't even healed yet this was pretty painful ( I'm told after it heals fully that the area basically becomes numb).  They started me off on a water (or saline drip) that basically starts flushed thru the tubes and make sure everything is going where its supposed to and that all is well inside.

The type of chemotherapy Im on is called "R CHOP" so there are four types of medicines they give me there that day and the fifth part is a pill that I take at home twice a day.

They say that the first time getting chemo takes a lot longer cause they have to take every medicine super slow at first to make sure that you dont have any major allergic reactions.  So they say that a typical chemo session can be between four to five hours,  I was there for a little over nine. So they said my body did extremely well and had no major reactions.  So nexttime hopefully it will be shorter.

I would say that the majority of the time I didnt feel anything beside the liquid moving through me, but the third medicine is called a "Direct IV Push" where instead of an IV Drip they have these four needles and they basically squeeze them really quickly into me.  hat one hurt a little bit, kind of a warm burning sensation inside my heart spreading out into my extremities.  It went away after a few minutes though.

My Nurse Gloria.
She was awesome, she checked on me every few minutes to make sure I was ok, and that my body was reacting harshly to the chemo.

So the main things I felt while I was there would be tiredness, soreness and Im not sure if it was my body or the room but I was hot alot of the time.  Besides that it was just alot of lying around. I had my Gameboy DS, newspapers, my web enabeled cell phone, magazines and even a pad and paper.  The only thing I really did was watch some tv and be online and text, I was pretty restless and tired, but its really hard to sleep when there are lights on and its daytime and someone comes in every few minutes to check your vitals and see how you are.

So it was a long day, but I survived, I learned a few things I can do next time, like bring ligt snacks and to wear shorts and maybe a tank top.  I met alot of great and kind nurses there and even some volunteers that were awesome as well.  I am truly blessed thst GOD  helped me find UCI and Doctor Sender and that I feel like I am getting some great care.

So far the main effects that I am feeling would be: tiredness, a bit of soreness, a little queasy and just a feeling like I am borderline getting the flu.  Ive also had a little bit of a headache for the past few days, but just resting and drinking tons of water.  I'm also talking to people who have gone thru this recently and trying to learn as much as I can about the process and the effects of the chemo and side effects of all of the medicines.

So please continue to pray, I'm hoping that I don't get really sick, but they say that most part feeling it in the week after the injections.  So time will tell.  If you have any questions or suggestions or just anything at all please leave a comment. I will try to be on every few days to update you guys and keep you up to date!

Well I had My First Chemotherapy Nov 6th, 2009
Sorry Everybody,

Its been a few days since I had my chemo and I have been just staying down.   So everyone wants to know how I feel and the most basic answer is that I really dont know yet.   I have had a really bad cold for the past few weeks and am still fighting to finally rid myself of that, but I'll just tell ou how I feel at this moment.

This is gona be a quick summary because I am in the process of getting ready to go out for the first time since chemo to the movies with my parents and my longtime friend Dawnn. We are going to the Irvine Spectrum to see "A Christmas Carol" in IMAX 3D (review to follow).

SO basically a summary is that I am tired, and have what I would normally associate with flu-like symptoms (weakness, overall body soreness, feeling warm or feverish, a tiny headache that has been ing for two days and abit of an upset stomach).  So none of the major side effects yet, im told that they typically are seen in the first seven to ten days so i still have awhile til im there. So we will just have to wait and see.

Thanks for all of your thoughts, prayers, texts, facebook messages , tweets and just general well wishes.

I know its totally backwards, but tommorrow I will write a full length post about the my 9 hour day getting chemo and include pictures and all of that fun jazz. I just wanna have time to include as much information as I can.

So once again thanks all for all of your love and I look forward to hearing from youin on way or another and I will try my best to do all that I can to stay healthy and keep you all informed!

                        GOD Bless,

A Summary- About my Portacath and I'm starting Chemotherapy Tomorrow! Nov. 3rd, 2009
Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Well I had my
surgical implantation of the portacath last Weds
(Oct 28th) it went good. It was a bit more
intense then i thought it would be.I knew that
they were gonna be cutting open my chest, but
what I didn't know was that they were gonna be
making incisions at the bottom of my neck and
putting tubes down them. So I was awake for the
surgery, the procedure itself wasn't that painful,
the afterward is!

It feels funny and so far
its been pretty painful.
It just hurts to move my
neck chest or arm because
they cut thru the muscle.

I'm sure the thing that hasn't been
helping is the fact that I started
getting sick the night before the
surgery and have had major head,
sinus and chest congestion.I
have been sneezing and coughing
, which you can imagine
doesn't feel the greatestto have your chest muscles
flexing when they just cut thru them!

So I really think that this darn cold and all of
the coughing has seriously slowed down the rate
at which the incisions are healing. They told me
that I shouldonly be really sore for a few days
and here a week later I'm still in some major
pain. But besides that I'm doing all right. I was
told I could take the top bandages off today
cause they were falling off and they would be
taking them off tomorrow anyways. So here is what
I can see now.

They put some sort of glue
on the incision to help it
heal but the problem is that
they didn't wait for it to
dry and now the sutures and
part of the bandage are glued
to the incision. So this
should be interesting and I
really hope that they can take
them off without ripping
open the incisions.

OK, so I am starting chemotherapy tomorrow at
9am at UCI Hospital. I went and gave
at the lab this afternoon so they have all of
my starting counts, and then I went and
got two of the six medicines that I'll have to
take during each round of chemotherapy and
I just found out today that there's is a co-pay
for each one and now this is another bill that
I'm gonna have and I hope I can handle it on
top of everything else that I have right now.

So tomorrows chemo will be a bit longer then
the rest because its my first time and they
have to take and give me a lot of
different medicines orally and thru injections
before I start the actual chemo treatment.
They say I should expect to be there 6-8
hours possibly. So I just gotta bring reading
materials, charge myphone and GAMEBOY DS and
just be prepare to sit for awhile (now Im
wishing I had a neck pillow and even one of
those butt doughnut pillow thingies). Once
again my chemo is called "R-Chop" and I will
hopefully do an update tomorrow to let you all
know how it went. I'm sure it wont be as long
as this one I promise. Once again thank you
for all of your thoughts and prayers and I love
you all!

GOD Bless,
               ADP

My POrtacth is being put IN tommorrow
Im having the portacath put in tomm (Weds 28th) at 7am at UCI. Please pray everything goes well, plus Im getting a bad cold, which is not good at all. God Bless
I Finally have a Diagnosis & tenative Treament Plan!! October 23rd, 2009 6:55pm

OK, so I heard from the doctor today and they finally have a clear-cut diagnosis for me. After testing my tissue samples for a third time and getting three different specialist opinions they have arrived at a conclusion.

I have "Diffused Large B-Cell Lymphoma" not Burkitts. So what this means is that I don't have the more rare and potentially dangerous Burkitts. But Burkitts is an easier treatment of chemotherapy that is usually shorter in nature so that sucks! Plus Burkitts also one of the fastest growing Lymphomas is one of the most receptive to chemo as well.

So Chemo is typically 3 rounds or cycles(2-3 months long) and just to be sure they want 2 do localized radiation treatments on my groin after chemo is done. I was told that they don't anticipate my life should dramatically change while undergoing chemo, but there will be certain times in each cycle where my white cell counts will drop and it is dangerous to be out in crowded public places.  They say because I'm young and am gonna have a shorter round of chemotherapy that I shouldn't have all of the side-effects that is the stigma associated with chemo.

So a round of chemo consists of getting the chemo on day 1, and then taking medication for the next five days or so. Then you start it all over again 16 days after your done with that and it just repeats that cycle until your done with the recommended rounds. Not sure about the details of the radiation yet, thats a different office that handles that. The type of chemo that I am going to be receiving is called "R-CHOP"

So now I'm waiting 2 hear back from the hospital my appointment to have the portacath surgically implanted next week. Then I should be in chem by the end of next week or the beginning of the week after that by the latest.

So its good news, but scary at the same time, so I will keep u posted on any new information that I hear and please leave comments, suggestions or whatever you want and I will answer them.

                                           Thank you and GOD Bless!

Still needing some More Prayes & Answers
Ok, so I got a call from the doctor this morning and the preliminary results from the pathology re-review came back and there are still some uncertainties so they re getting more of the tissue to run different tests and calling in another specialist to get his opinion. They say its peculiar because one test says something & then another hints at something different.

They have what are called "markers" or "flags" that they look at when they test the tissue samples, and some say intermediate grade lymphoma while others say its the more rare "Burkitts" lymphoma. They of course cannot start any treatment until they are one hundred percent positive of what I have.

They hope to know something for sure by tomorrow. So we will see on that what happens and if I hear anything back tomorrow.

I went and had an EKG and Echocardiogram today. Just checking out the general health of my heart and to see how strong it is cause the chemo can effect it and give you problems if your not in good shape to begin with.

Im still waiting to hear about the portacath being installed in my chest. Thats prpobably the scariest things to me, that they are going to install a device into my chest and attach it to my organs and heart.  They use it to withdraw blood and its where they can administer the chemo drectly into my heart and organs , they can bypass using my arms and not have to damage the tissue or veins.

So I guess thats all 4 now. I will try to update on here as soon as I know anything more. As always thanks for caring enough to read this and I hope to have some more positive and concrete news soon!

Some more drama, and some more prayer needed Oct 15th, 2009

OK, so I just called my oncologists office cause its been a few days since we talked and I wanted just an update. Well the doctor and nurses are in the cancer clinic today treating patients so Dora at the front desk said that she would pass on the message and have them get back to me.   The things I've been waiting on are the lab results from the pathologists at UCI to re-test my tissue sample that was taken during my surgical biopsy, and have a clear diagnosis of exactly what I have. Then from there we are gonna make a "road map to recovery" plan on my treatment and all of the details. So I will post anything new I find out.

In a side un-related topic every time that there is a holiday my paycheck (which is mailed to me by the workman's comp insurance company) is late. So because it is almost a week late again my account is overdrawn because I have direct bill pay that automatically deducts for certain bills. So I called my lawyers office yesterday to talk to them like I always do when I have a problem with my checks and Maria (office director) puts me on hold and then my lawyer Mr Meline comes on. I never talk to him directly unless its and emergency, so right away I know somethings up!  So he comes on and asks me a few questions about whats going on with the cancer and I tell him all that I know and then he tells me that workman's comp has "p.n.s.'d" me which means that they have released me from disabled status to able to work status.

Now I have a question: "If I was physically unable to work in March when I was doing therapy and found the lump, then why would I be physically able to now when I have not done any therapy or physical activity to help strengthen my back since then?" If anything I have basically become physically dormant to rest up and not make the situation any worse.  So now I am scared and confused and my lawyer said that he was gonna check into a few things for me, but the next step would be to start talking settlement, which is good but that can take awhile and he gave me the two options: either take lifetime medical coverage of my back and a bi-weekly check until it runs out, or take lump sum settlement.

Now I always thought that I could do a lump sum and also ask for lifetime medical, so now I'm really confused and don't know what to do! Also my lawyer talked about how this cancer is number one priority and I should focus on whats going on with that. I cant just wait around and not be getting paid and do the whole settlement thing after I'm done with Chemotherapy, so I need some serious prayer. Please pray that GOD helps show me and my lawyer what to do and that I can be taken care of during this time, thanks.

Frustrations Are ABUNDANT!!! Sept 29th, 2009 9:30pm
So I haven't been doing a lot of updates cause I have been waiting for some new information to come in, so I will just write what I know & what is seriously pissing me off right now.

So after waiting for weeks to hear back tests approvals and such just to be told that there are new rules and only your primary care physician can put in requests I called up my Primary doctor and told them all that the oncologist told me I needed to have done. That was about a week and a half ago. Then I was there last Thursday early in the morning for a check-up I asked the lady at the front desk if they have heard back yet & they then tell me "Oh we have the requests here in your file, they just haven't been faxed out yet. we have been busy" & she said it with an attitude, like I was bothering her. It was at this point that I had to restrain myself from choking the rude lady behind the counter. I HAVE CANCER & your taking your sweet time in getting the requests in for these vitally important tests that could help me start treatment sooner?!?!

So when i saw the doctor I stressed the fact that they have been holding onto these when they should have been out over a week ago! The doctor said that she agreed that this was urgent so she left the examination room and when she came back she said that she talked to he front desk and the requests were being faxed out immediately!

So I called today to check on them and see if they have heard anything yet and somewhere in the conversation she said "You have to give it time, these request just went out on FRIDAY" and I was like "Excuse me? You mean Thursday right?" & she check and told me that the faxes went out Friday afternoon. I was sooo livid I had to hold back the cuss words, I told her that I watched the doctor go over and tell them to fax them asap! I then explained to her that I put those request in over a week before that!

Please pray for me to get some competent people to be working on my case and I also pray that GOD helps me with this anger right now, its probably a defense mechanism that my body is turning to anger instead of fear but at this moment I feel like I could punch a thousand people in the face! Thanks once again for all of your thoughts and prayers!

GOD Bless,

A quick Update Sept 27th, 2009 9:40pm

Ok, I just realized that I haven't been on in a few days, but it is the weekend and I'm not really gonna find out anything new. So I'm still waiting to hear about the approvals for the next few tests that need to be done. I'm calling the doctors everyday to check and see if they have heard anything yet, it probably annoys them but I gotta do what I gotta do.

While I'm waiting to hear about the test approvals I gotta use that time to make calls to some of the foundations that Ive heard of and not called yet. I also have to still look into a few things and also I have to do something with Social Security, i sent my application in but apparently somethings missing or they need more info and they e-mailed me about it, I just haven't gotten to it yet. Still a long way to go and a whole lot to do.

On a good note I went out with some great friends last night (Shelly, Marianne & Raslyn)we went to the amazing "GEORGE'S Greek Cafe" on Long Beach and I had the Lamb and it was amazing. If you have never been then u should for sure!

After dinner we went around the corner to the theatre to see "FAME" (movie review will follow) and just had a great night out. Today on the other hand was just an entire day in bed or resting. I haven't been sleeping so the doc gave me sleeping pills and i spent all today in bed and trying to catch up. I even slept thru church (sorry Noelle). But somehow I'm still tired and feel exhausted. I'm hoping and praying that I hear some news tomorrow! I will keep you all informed on what I hear as soon as I do. As always thanks for caring enough to come here and read this.

A Bit of GOOD News Sept 24th,2009 4:15pm

OK, just got the results from the doctor about my PET scan & they said that besides some residue from where they removed the lymph node there were no other indicators of any more cancer anywhere else in my body. Not even the two lymph nodes that were enlarged before and under the one that they had removed.

They still need to do some further testing, but maybe the prayers for healing worked . Its too early 2 tell. But even if not praise GOD that it hasn't spread!

I'm just in shock that the other two didn't even show up as irregular on the scan. I am asking for a copy of the film for a second opinion. I'm still waiting for the approval to see the specialist at UCI & for the next round of tests to be done. But thank you for all of your prayers and I will make sue that I keep updating my blog.

GOD Bless,
ADP
Just a quick update Weds Sept 23rd, 2009 9:40pm
ok, so i made a few calls 2day, but the results of my pet scan aren't in yet, they said that they will be tomorrow. So in the morning I have a appointment with my primary care physician first thing in the morning & then after that I am going to be going to do the blood tests. Ill blog tomorrow and let you know what I find out.
GOD Bless,
ADP
Well I had my PET scan today September 22nd, 2009 6:40pm

OK, so I went and had the PET scan done today,it was a long and boring procedure,It was over three hours from the time we got there to the time I was finished. So first thing they do is test your blood sugar levels (mine was 91, I was told that the good range is 80-115) So after that She put in shot me full of a few bottles of radioactive liquid. Then I had to lay down in a quiet room for and hour so the substance would go thru my body and latch onto the cancerous cells. After the hour was up the put me into the PET machine and it went back and forth, in and out and then did scans of different parts of me, that was a little over and hour. So thank GOD that is done and they should be faxing the results over to my doctor sometime tomorrow afternoon.

Whats next? Well I talked to Julie out of Dr. Senders office this morning and they want me to get about 20 different blood tests (im not quite sure if they take all of the blood at one time,or what), she also needs me to get my tissue sample from the lab that analyzed it and bring it to UCI,she says they r better trained there and will have a clear cut result asap. They also want me to go get a echo cardiogram (www.www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Echocardiogram ) cause apparently the chemo can cause a strain on the heart and they need to make sure that its all normal and healthy.

So here is the part that threw me a bit, I hadn't heard this until this morning, she asked me to put in a request to get a port-a-cath (www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portacath ) When I asked what it was and she told me I almost lost it, I was literally fighting back tears in a instant, and I just pushed the wall of tears and fears back into me,so I could ask questions. I'm not sure why that almost made me break down, I guess it was just a shock, and the fact that they need to cut me open and implant a device in my chest to have a place to administer the chemo into my body without having to go thru the vein repeatedly. They say it makes everything easier to administer. I guess at that moment it starts to become real for me.

So I'm waiting to hear the results from the PET test by tomorrow, and then waiting for approval to be treated by Dr. Sender, and the approval for the echocardiogram and the portocath. Im getting my PET Scan YAY! Monday Sept 21st, 2009 6:30pm
OK, so another day has come and gone, and Ive been on the phone all day and waiting for call backs. I was told by a doctor that I needed to call MSI myself, and request to be transferred to Dr Sender. I called MSI on Friday and left a message, I also called back this morning and left a message. In the Middle of the day they called me back and after I told them that I wanted to transfer to a different and competent oncologist and they told me that I cannot request it, it has to come from my current doctors (SOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!!!)

So I called my P.C.P. (Primary Care Physician) and told them this and they were telling me that was wrong, I begged them to please put in a request for me and Crissy the front desk nurse is soo awesome she said that she would. I gave them Dr Senders information and she said that they would put a fax out today and hopefully we will hear back soon.

On a separate note After numerous phone calls myself to my oncologist, to the radiology center and also Dr Senders people calling we got my PET scan move to tomorrow!! What is a PETScan you ask? So I'm having it done in Irvine at 12:45 in the afternoon. So I have had to do the same diet as yesterday and after about 3am tomorrow morning I can't eat or anything besides water , sooo fun, a full day of no food! So I'm gonna be doing that and its a few hours total for everything to be done and I am told that all today and tomorrow I need to be resting and relaxing, So ill probably stay in bed most of the day.

So please just prayers for the rest of my tests to get approved asap, that I get approved to see Dr Sender out of UCI and that I can get a clear defined diagnosis of what I have and the stage of it and also that I can start my treatment asap!

Once again, thank you so much for caring enough to read this. Please leave comments or suggestions and I will do an update as soon as I get back from doing the PET scan or if I hear anything further tomorrow beforehand.

GOD Bless,

Another Day...... Sept 19th 4:15pm

First and foremost I just wanna wish my bro-in-law Robbie a Happy Birthday!  I'm not sure if its actually today or you are just going out to dinner tonight. I'm sorry I'm missing your birthday dinner, i was gonna go if my my parents, but neither of them are here and I'm still working on some paperwork. So I Love You Man and I hope you have the best Birthday EVER!

Well I was up early this morning, I know I have a lot to do (Well thats probably a given) . I really need to finish my online Social Security/Disability application. This is day four of working on it, and I really need it to be just finished already so its one less thing to worry about. Ive already worked on it for 12-15 hours, cause I either have to stop because I have a doctors appointment, My back is me from sitting still for so long or I have to find and gather up information to answer the questions they are asking.  Ive been working on it since about 8am this morning and I finally finished the full medical History portion. Now I'm working on the full Work/Education History portion which is the final section before you review the information and hit send. I am SOO TIRED, I haven't been sleeping, my back was me and I started to get a headache from staring at the screen for soo long, so I just took a break and ate a whole wheat Bagel with Peanut butter and some apple sauce, YUM!

So the plan is to finish this application today cause I need to get approved for better insurance like yesterday! I am still un-decided on what to do about the possibility of losing my fertility during chemotherapy, but my mother told me something that was very true, she said "Well pray and see what GOD tells you, and if he wants you to go to the fertility bank then he will provide the way for you to pay for it!" That is basically where I'm at right now, if it happens then so be it, I cant be using what little energy I have right now stressing about the life of a future child that hasn't even been thought of or conceived yet.  It would be a lot easier to decide this if I was with the woman that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with and be married to, but I'm not so that really doesn't matter.

So the plan for this week is that I have to start prepping for   Monday cause Dr Senders office is trying to get it moved to be done quicker, and then if the insurance company approves for me to see and be treated by Dr Sender out of UCI then I have an entire week of tests: EKG (heart scan) cause chemo can affect the functionality of your heart, an eco-cardiogram (another heart test I believe) , a full range of work testing a whole bunch of things and numbers I don't quite understand, a full physical, re-testing of the sample that they already removed from me but at UCI, and even possible bone marrow withdrawals to be tested . That is all I can remember that she told me, but I'm sure there are more tests to be done.

I'm a bit scared to start chemotherapy, but even more scared of it not being approved and going longer without treatment. Just a shout-out to my old friend Joey that I used to work with at Hilo Hatties , thanks for the call to talk to me, and even a bigger thank you for calling me during free weekend talk time! I really do hope that we can get together next weekend if time, my schedule and my overall health permits.

Well like I said before, please leave comments or suggestions and if u want to stay up to date on my progress then go to the bottom of my blog and subscribe to it. As usual thank you soo much for caring enough to read this and I really do appreciate all comments, suggestions and prayers!

Sept 18th, 2009 7:30pm Continued a little bit...
Ok, since my last post I have had multiple calls and been in touch with Dr Senders P.A.(Physicians Assistant) Julie and she is awesome and she has a ton of calls out to different hospitals and also to the insurance company. Shes working on getting me approved to see them ASAP, she wants me to get the PET scan done this Monday instead of on Monday Sept 28th, she says that the the doctor also wants me to do some more panels specific to cancer and certain anti-bodies in the blood . Then she wants me to go get the specimen that they took out of me (the enlarged lymph node) and drive it myself to UCI Medical Center to be examined by their own pathologists. I also need to do a CAT scan of my chest and do some heart tests. Julie said that the doctor is highly concerned for my health and well being and wants to get me into see them YESTERDAY! She told me that her and Dr Sender are appalled at the run-around Ive been getting and she said that if everything goes according to plan and they work their magic, best case scenario as long as I get all of the tests done asap, is that i could be starting chemo as soon as Monday Sept 28th!! Julie said that the results from the last surgical (or excisional biopsy) has signs in the tissue that were marked as Burkitts related, but they need to know for sure cause it changes treatment.

They need to find out if i have intermediate lymphoma or the Burkitts because the treatment is different. Now Burkitts is faster growing and definitely more dangerous as in the fact that it can kill someone in the amount of time its been since I found the mass in my groin, but if caught and treated properly it is completely curable with chemo! So the good news is if I have Burkitts, not only is Dr Sender one of the only specialists in Orange County that is really familiar with it and how to treat it, it can be cured, as if its Intermediate Lymphoma then it is less risky right now, cause typically it grows and spreads slower, but it also is a lot less likely to be cured the first time you go thru chemotheraoy and also the chemo treatments go on for longer.

So I'm about to get waaaay personal with you guys! Julie told me that sometimes guys who go through the Burkitts Chemo treatment (or any Chemo for that matter) can become infertile and never have children! So she is referring me to a sperm bank and wants me to start making deposits there on Monday and two more times this week, cause u can't once you start chemotherapy. Here comes the catch , its $250 for them to take and test it and then to keep it frozen for future use, plus there is a yearly storage fee.

Now of course I think I want children, but not anytime soon! I don't think that its even an option for me anytime soon with my condition and financial situation. But do I wanna risk it, its just a chance that it could make me infertile. So what should I do, plus not to mention I don't have the money right now for something like this. SO should I borrow money for this. Its just soo hard cause I haven't met the "one" yet and it would be a lot easier if I could discuss this with her, I mean I'm all for adoption, one of my best friends from high school April, her family adopted two beautiful s Gracie and Ruthy and I've seen the wonderful addition it made to their family.
But i obviously would want to carry on the Poynter gene's. I really just don't know what to do, is a potential child in my far off future something that should be stressing me out now? I guess if I can gather the money or not might be a large factor in my decision. Any thoughts?

Well I'm sure there was more I wanted to tell you, but I'm drawing a blank right now. Please comment and let me know what you think.

Thanks and GOD Bless,
ADP
Some more news... Sept 18th, 2009 4pm

OK, well i just got back from my oncologists office and I have a lot going on. First of all I was waiting 2 hours in the room to be seen! Then she comes in and asks me why haven't I had the PET scan done and I said "You put in for it to be authorized and I have been waiting for you to tell me that it was" then she told me it was authorized last week and somebody was supposed to call me, that was it, I'm sooo done with her! I deserve the best care, not some second rate doctor that that doesn't return patients calls and doesn't tell you important information that you have been waiting to hear!

On a different note there was some pretty serious stuff going on that I haven't blogged about earlier cause I was awaiting to hear some results. I was told by the oncologist a few weeks ago that the possible strand of Non Hodgkin's B-Cell Lymphoma that came up on the results from the biopsy is a more rare type (Burkitts) that was found and is primarily in Africa in Aboriginal children, and here is the scary part; it is associated with tribes that have born diseases like Hepatitis or HIV (AIDS) so the oncologist had me do some work tests and I just got the results today, and..... I don't have any of the those, it was scary for me cause I have been in the hospital and had multiple surgeries over the past few years and although it was a small chance, there is a possibility that I could have come into contact with ones of the above diseases while in the hospital. So thats a weight off my shoulders!

Now with some more news, I have been taking a very pro-active approach in my cancer. Ive been researching and looking up a lot of things and asking for any and all suggestions . So because of my friend Jay who works for the American Cancer Society and he recommended a Dr. Sender who specializes in lymphoma and is even an expert of the particular strand that I might have. I have been talking to them the last few days and I just got them my medical records and they are looking at them and gonna call me back in a bit. The only main problem is that I need to be authorized to see them and that is a pain in my tookis' !! Dr Senders physicians assistant just called me and wants to talk to him and get me in right away and get some tests done asap cause they feel it is urgent to know precisely what I have and where I have it at.

So I hope to hear some more soon, my PET scan is scheduled for Sept 28th, but they dont want to wait that long for me to have it. So please continue to pray that I can get authorization to see him asap and that maybe somehow I can get the PET scan done sooner!

GOD Bless,
